Bargain Find Friday - The Look Of Custom Draperies

Entertain Exchange

Welcome to Bargain Find Friday. Today's great bargain find all fell together for me...and I wasn't even looking. I found these absolutely beautiful and well made silk drapery panels at Tuesday Morning. The price for two panels was $118...not super cheap, but it said the regular price was $440. They were by far the nicest off the shelf draperies, for the price, that I was going to find. I actually was going to do custom, but we can all guess what that would cost!

I also found the great tassels at Tuesday Morning for $10 each.

Then one day I found this pretty trim at Joanne Fabrics. When I went back to buy it I noticed a slight discoloration on one end of the spool of trim. I mentioned it to the cutting counter lady...mostly because is was so subtle and I didn't know if it was just my eyes. She said is happens from the strong florescent lighting...it sometimes lightens the fabrics, trims etc. She made a call and gave me a 75% discount...I took all nine yards for $22! No one would ever notice this discoloration.

I stitched on the trim about 3" down from the top.

My next (everything is falling into place find) was looking for drapery rods. So, I look around a little and end up at Penney's finding these great gold tone rods. They were just what I was looking for. There were a few piece missing on the rack so the sales lady began calling around for me. During the this time (and this is were my heart started to race) I come to find that everything in the collection is 75% off...yes 75%!
I started to see others eyeing my find so, I start gathering everything I need and protecting it. Finials $6.95 from $30, rods $6.95 from $32.00, etc. I think all the drapery hardware cost me $70!!!!

The one small problem I had was there were not enough gold rings. So I bought an extra set in black figuring I could maybe match the paint. It is virtually impossible to tell the difference and I just happen to have the paint/glaze in my basement.

I have to say that these pictures do nothing to show how beautifully they turned out. I did the two windows in my family room and the dinning room window. The house is very open so they needed to coordinate. I am very pleased at how they turned out.

The dinning room.
